On Monday we held our Games Night. The plan was to play games on Jackbox and Boardgame Arena. In the end we opted to just use Jackbox, though others could still set up games through Boardgame Arena and also play their own console games. We used Discord as our communication hub, that supports text and audio. We kicked things off at 7pm with an introduction and relaxed general chitchat. Jon set up the games using Twitch and provided us with a handy video tutorial beforehand and Daniel was his righthand man. Mitch was heavily involved with planning of the event and we had support from our trustees.
The first game we played was Guesspionage. Next up, we were going to play Drawful, but a badly timed software update and some technical issues prevented us from doing so. We swapped our schedule and instead played Fibbage. It was quite a lot of fun and created some genuine laughs with wacky answers. We took a rain check on Drawful and got straight on to the main event. Our final scheduled game was Trivia Murder Party, a dark take on quizzing. We all liked Fibbage so much, we had one final round and I think this game went down the best. We want to say thank you to everyone who took part and we hope to see you again soon.
Aside from our small technical difficulties, the event was a great success. We achieved our mission of putting on a games night for adults with DMD. We provided a social opportunity without leaving our sitting rooms and had a great time doing so. We are looking forward to running plenty more of these online events and hope to spread the word to get more adults with DMD involved. Would love to hear from you, whether it’s to give us feedback about the games night or about what you would like to see in future events. Whatever it is, please feel free to get in contact with us.
