Welcome to Jamie, our new CEO (job share)!

Jamie Hale

Hi!

I’m Jamie Hale, and I’m the new job-share CEO, working with Jon Rey-Hastie as we take Pathfinders forward into the future. I’m delighted to be working for Pathfinders, having first benefitted from the guides over the past few years, and then had a wonderful experience at the mini-conference this summer. To be appointed into this role is a wonderful opportunity for me, and I’m very excited to get started.

My background is in a mixture of disability policy and disability arts.

In policy, I’m studying for a Master’s in Philosophy, Politics and Economics of Health at UCL, and I Chair Lewisham Disabled People’s Commission, running an enquiry into the experiences of d/Deaf and disabled people in Lewisham. Historically, I’ve been involved in various aspects of policy development from the Equalities Act through student disability politics and campaigning to an internship in Policy and Campaigns at Muscular Dystrophy UK.

In disability arts, I’ve been very involved in user-led disability arts work culminating in CRIPtic – a showcase of d/Deaf and disabled artists at the Barbican Centre, which I curated in 2019.

My main hobbies are writing – I’ve got a poetry pamphlet coming out next year titled Shield and am working on two novels, cooking, and xbox (currently playing the new Tony Hawk).

I’m really passionate about broadening our member-base and empowering those members to take part in the organisation more broadly – volunteering, writing, running events, and will be working hard to make sure that happens.

I’d love to hear from members, volunteers, and other interested parties about their hopes and dreams for Pathfinders going forward – so if you’re interested, drop me a message on jamie@pathfindersalliance.org.uk and I’ll get back to you – my working hours are Monday and Wednesday from 12pm to 4pm.

I look forward to meeting you all – and come to our launch party!
